Why do operational changes sometimes fail ?

In our experience there are three main reasons why operational transformations can fail.

  1. Lack of shared, stable and clear direction for the company. The organisation is like a ship without a harbour. It will sail, ... but where to ?
  2. Weak content of the project due to superficial problem-solving and/or disregard for the human aspect of change (e.g. lack of trust, missing skills).
  3. Erosion of commitment and sponsorship that can happen due to many factors (external pressure, drawbacks, changing priorities …)

We used these observations to develop our approach that then by construction is focused on obtaining sustainable change
